Bus and Baumer's Healthy Powder
This is a great
nutrition boost for pets. We sprinkle a little over each
animal's food at every mealtime, one generous pinch for Bus and about a
teaspoon for Baumer. It's rich in vitamins (particularly the
Bs) and minerals that are necessary for their good health. The
nutritional yeast has a nutty, almost cheesy flavor, too, so they love
to eat it!
The recipe is from the "Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural
Health for Dogs & Cats", a thoroughly excellent book on pet
nutrition. Most health food stores will have what you need, and we use Solid Gold's steamed bonemeal from a pet store.
2 cups nutritional yeast (not brewer's yeast, and NOT, for the love of God, yeast used for baking)
1 cup lecithin granules
1/4 cup kelp powder
1/4 cup bone meal (from better pet stores or health food stores-- do not use bone meal sold for gardening)
1,000 mg powdered vitamin C
Store in the fridge.
